Scientific Interests

My overall research interests lie in the understanding of post-fire dynamics with a focus on the transport and distribution of organic and inorganic matter in post-fire soils of Central Europe. Due to climate change and the northward shift of fire weather conditions, the landscapes of temperate Central Europe are experiencing wildfires of various severities, with a trend towards increasing numbers and burnt area. In particular, the Harz Mountain is increasingly affected and is of special interest, as an interplay of landscape legacies and modern wildfires shapes new research questions.
