DAAD supports the project „Enlight Transform“ at the University of Göttingen with €750,000
The University of Göttingen, as a member of the European university network ENLIGHT, succeeded in getting funding from the German Academic Exchange Agency (DAAD) for €750,000 for the expansion of European structures.
The DAAD is supporting the project „ENLIGHT Transform“, which is intended to strengthen and complement the activities of the university network for a period of three years. ENLIGHT is the collaboration of nine renowned research-led universities. The aim of the DAAD initiative is to support the international activities of German universities who, together with their European partners, were successful with their application to be recognized as a “European University”.
The main objectives for Enlight Transform lie in research, education, joint structures and regional networking. In research, “Matchmaking Events” will be facilitated. These events give scientists from the partner universities the opportunity to develop joint research projects and proposals. In education, three summer schools that will support the exchange and networking of early career researchers on the ENLIGHT flagship challenges are planned.
A double degree master’s programme in one of the thematic focus areas of ENLIGHT as well as the linking of like-minded groups at the partner universities are examples of the structures that will be implemented within the network. Collaboration with Göttingen will be strengthened by various initiatives, such as the hosting of public events and cooperation with partners from business, civil society and culture.
"At the European universities, future generations of Europeans will be equipped, with the knowledge and skills to tackle the most pressing global challenges of our time together,” states Professor Hiltraud Casper-Hehne, Vice President for International Affairs at the University of Göttingen. "The additional funding from the DAAD is of great importance and emphasises that the ambitious goals of the European universities can only be achieved in the long-term if European and national efforts go hand-in-hand.”
Researchers, doctoral students and employees of the University are now able to apply for funding under the first ENLIGHT call that is published by the University of Göttingen.
Joint research and educational projects as well as a diverse range of events and mobility schemes are eligible for funding. The application deadline is 15 February 2021.
