The commitment of the University of Göttingen

The University of Göttingen is committed to the special role of universities in contributing to ecological, social, and economic sustainable development. In accordance with its motto "In publica commoda – for the good of all," the University of Göttingen also assumes societal responsibility in its investments, selecting them not only based on economic aspects but also on socially, ethically, and environmentally sustainable criteria.
Using the ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) criteria ensures that the three sustainability-related areas of responsibility—environment, social, and corporate governance—are taken into account. Investments whose main business involves exploration, extraction, transportation, and distribution of energy from fossil and nuclear sources are excluded. The same applies to companies that violate the core labor standards of the International Labour Organization (ILO). Further information on the evaluation of sustainability principles can be found here.
