Thesis supervision

Topics in my general field of interest is welcome for a thesis proposal. Directly contact me via email. My current interests include: urban heat island intensity, mechanisms of cooling by urban greenspaces, carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus and silicon geochemistry in soils of different ecosystems, litter decomposition and characterization with FTIR.

Alternatively you can decide for one the topics below.

  • Open topics:

  • Assessing available phosphorus contents in oil-palm fields under commercial and small-holder management
  • Predicting element contents in beech litter samples using Fourier transformed infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy
  • Predicting soil organic matter fractions with mid- and near-FTIR
  • Response of soil organic matter pools in high-mountain soils to land-use change
  • Temporal variability of soil and microclimatic conditions of green areas with different urbanization exposure (currently assigned)
  • Spatio-temporal variability soil properties in an Alpine meadow, resulting soil-moisture/temperature patterns, and implications for differential response to climate change (currently assigned)
  • Establishment and tree vitality near the treeline in the European Alps (currently assigned)
