Conference 16./17.09.2025: Participation, involvement, and co-determination in sport – stakeholder interests in different contexts (PATHS)
The conference will address the question of how widespread participatory processes are in sport and how they work, how they can be designed and developed in a reflective manner. The focus will be on examining the different interests of stakeholders: from athletes, coaches, and volunteers to clubs and associations to political decision-makers and civil society. The discussion will focus on how these interests are articulated in different contexts—from school, popular, and elite sports to health, inclusion, and governance—and how they are—or are not—effectively implemented in participatory structures. To this end, the conference brings together sports scientists and practitioners with researchers from other disciplines.

Prof. Dr. Srirupa Roy: "Theorizing the Transversal Politics of Rightwing Decolonization: Inter-Asian and Global Dynamics"
This project - funding from the VW Foundation - aims to theorize the rightwing appropriation of decolonial and anticolonial languages for authoritarian projects from a global comparative and transversal approach. It opens up new space for thinking about the ‘uses and abuses of decolonization’ amidst the global resurgence of rightwing politics. Extending beyond rightwing decolonization, the concept of ‘transversal politics’ will also be developed to understand other cases of ideological co-optation or the use of critical theory for political reactionary ends.
