Goal 14 – Life below water

Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development

All kinds of ocean pollution, for instance marine debris and nutrient pollution, must be diminished considerably. Marine and coastal ecosystems should be protected and managed sustainably. Ocean acidification must be reduced, and fishing must be regulated. Small island developing countries and least developed countries should benefit from the sustainable use of marine resources.
To achieve these goals, scientific knowledge and research capacities should be increased. Marine technology should be transferred. Small-scale artisanal fishers must have access to marine resources and markets.
