Women's Careers and Networks

The 9^th Women's Careers and Networks (WoCaNet) symposium took place on 4 and 5 June 2025 at the MPI Faßberg Campus in Göttingen.

A diverse community of students, researchers, and speakers from academia and industry met for an inspiring and empowering experience over two days of workshops and talks. Attendees had the opportunity to engage explore various career and mentorship opportunities at the insightful career fair and participated in the networking dinner to foster friendships and professional growth.

May 2025

05.06: We had a fantastic day full of inspiring talks, ideas, and experiences - thank you so much for everyone who came and created such an unforgettable WoCaNet experience. For those who attended, we will be sending out certificates, and photos are also in progress.
04.07: Our first day of symposium started off with the three workshops! We explored how to thrive as leaders in male-dominated environments, unpacking unconscious bias, sharpening our communication skills, and building personalized strategies for career success. Thank you to all the inspiring women who showed up with honesty, ambition, and solidarity - this is what progress looks like 💙

20.05: Unfortunately Abberior can't make it to the Career Fair. However, we're happy to announce that Cuvillier Verlag will be joining us. Cuvilier Verlag is an independent scientific and academic publisher based in Göttingen with over 34 years of experience. 12.05: Our last Pre-Symposium talk from Ulrike Harjes featured her career path to scientific publishing. Not only did she talk about her story - but she also talked about transferable skills from laboratory work to editorial and gave some tips on how to 'start over' in a new country.
09:05: We had a Pre-Symposium Talk from Emma Robinson today, where she talked about her struggles and bright points during her journey in academia, about how staying true to what she believes in gave her an edge in her career, and touched upon the importance of branding in a scientific field.

28.04: Our Pre-Symposium Online Talks started with an inspirational talk from Maria Klawe today! She talked about her non-linear career journey, her ups and downs in life - and at the end, she gave some life advice on how to change the world - starting from us.
