Prof. Dr. Alexander Baur, M.A., B.Sc. (Psych.)

Alexander Baur is Director of the Department of Criminology, Juvenile Criminal Law and Penology and holds the Chair of Criminal Law and Criminology at the University of Göttingen. Since 2025, he is Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law.

His research focuses on the law of sanctions and enforcement (in particular the law on measures of reform and prevention), including its empirical references, the law of corporate sanctions, including procedural references and criminological foundations (white-collar crime), as well as general crime prevention law. In addition, there is a focus on law-related evaluation research.
