IN-EULALIA (Innovative and Inclusive Instruments for European Latin Linguistic Assessment) is a three-year Erasmus+ project (2024–2027) that builds on the previous EULALIA project. Within EULALIA, a model for linguistic certification in Latin was developed – similar to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Project Objectives
IN-EULALIA aims to provide new, practical tools for teachers and learners to make Latin teaching more modern, active, and inclusive – while also facilitating preparation for the EULALIA certification exams, which are already used in several European countries. Latin is taught at schools and universities in all 27 EU member states, making it a shared cultural foundation of Europe. The community of Latin teachers and learners is lively, engaged, and committed to preserving and promoting the cultural value of this ancient language. In view of current social changes, Latin teaching faces new challenges: teaching methods need to become more up to date, interactive, and multisensory – enabling learning that is more active, inclusive, and motivating.

Focus Areas
IN-EULALIA focuses in particular on vocabulary learning. The goal is to deepen the understanding of key concepts in European culture while also improving performance in the EULALIA certification exams. The project also aims to promote exchange between different European teaching traditions – for example, through an international training program and the development of a joint European syllabus.

Expected Outputs
The project is divided into three work phases (Work Packages, WPs), each leading to concrete results:

WP2 – Multilingual and Multisensory Lexicon
Building on the basic vocabulary already developed in the EULALIA project (with audio files), an expanded dictionary with images and translations into the partner languages will be created – supporting inclusive and multisensory learning.

WP3 – Digital Learning Materials and Anthology
Development of vocabulary exercises and a multilingual digital anthology enabling learners to explore the meanings of words in complex contexts.

WP4 – European Comparative Syllabus
Creation of a comparative syllabus highlighting similarities and differences in Latin teaching traditions across the partner countries. This will serve as the basis for an international training program for current and future Latin teachers.
